The local budget Indian airline, GoAir is has started operations to the Maldives with its first flight from Delhi to the Velena international airport in the Maldives. The inaugural flight landed on the Maldives on the 14th of October. The airline has planned to fly directly from Indian cities such as New Delhi. It has also been mentioned by the airline that bookings for the new route will commence soon. The airline will commence service with three non-stop flights per week between Mumbai to Male and back to Mumbai and two more direct flights per week between Delhi to Male and back. They have also mentioned that the rates will start with all-inclusive fares of USD 230 and USD 260, respectively.
