Grand Park Kodhipparu’s Sustainability Initiatives in the Spotlight – Creating a Greener Future

Combining eco-friendly programmes and protocols with socio-cultural sustainability, the note-worthy initiatives of Grand Park Kodhipparu were put in the spotlight once more. On 27th May 2022, the Middle East North Africa Financial Network, Inc. (MENAFN) website highlighted that the property had gained Green Globe certification for its second year as well. Additionally, its focus on sustainability and a dedicated Green Team were also mentioned on the Harper’s BAZAAR Arabia website on 10th July 2022; it provided more details on what one of the best resorts in Maldives is doing to ensure a greener future for the people and the planet.

Travellers can find out more about such aspects on the resort’s dedicated sustainability page (https://www.parkhotelgroup.com/north-male-atoll/grand-park-kodhipparu-maldives/sustainability). This includes the launch of a solar power system on Earth Day 2021 that produces clean energy amounting to around 478,080 kWh a year and which reduces carbon emissions. To reduce single-use plastic, it began operations of an on-site glass bottling plant and replaced all plastic straws at F&B outlets, while it has a sustainable herb garden and orchid nursery too. Coral gardening projects, reef clean-ups, tree-planting as well as recycling and upcycling processes have also been implemented with a focus on sustainable and responsible tourism in the Maldives. In addition to all these sustainability practices, the resort has recently introduced eco-friendly water sports for guests to indulge in which include new experiences like Ceclo e-catamaran, Pedalo cycles, and Onean jet boards.
