Hanoi accelerates toward a cleaner, smarter future in urban travel
Hanoi is stepping up efforts to modernise daily travel, strengthening its metro network and tightening links between trains, buses, and app-based services. The city’s plan focuses on smoother transfers, reduced congestion, and a greener transport footprint. Ride-hailing partnerships are now helping passengers bridge the gap between neighbourhoods and metro stations, a move aimed at encouraging more people to leave private vehicles behind.
Digital tools are also being expanded, giving visitors clearer station directions, real-time schedules, and easy ride bookings—making the metro increasingly practical for tourists. However, limited parking near key stations remains a hurdle that requires further investment.
Hanoi’s strategy aligns with Vietnam’s wider sustainability goals and mirrors successful models seen in regional capitals. As the country enhances its mobility network, even premium travel experiences—such as trips aboard the Vietage, a well-known and preferred luxury train in Vietnam—may benefit from improved connectivity.
