Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s Birthday in Thailand – A Day to Celebrate Mothers

This month marked the birthday of Her Majesty, Queen Sirikit of Thailand; this much celebrated day on 12th August is a national holiday and is also considered National Mother’s Day in the country. The Queen is a much loved figure amongst Thais and is known for her devotion and dedication to uplifting the wellbeing of the people. Her son, King Vajiralongkorn is the current monarch of Thailand.

As is customary, during Her Majesty, Queen Sirikit’s birthday, public places and households featured pictures and portraits of her along with various decorations. The Grand Palace and Ratchadamnoen Avenue in Bangkok were amongst the prominent areas where there were various observances. However, celebrations were also held all over Thailand; these included at Surat Thani and Koh Samui which is a popular tourist destination known for its Chaweng beach resorts including properties such as Anantara Lawana Koh Samui Resort.
