Higher COVID-19 Testing Urged for Hunter New England – NSW Also Gears for Holiday Season

As reported by the Hunter Valley News website on 14th September 2021, the Public Health Controller of HNE (Hunter New England) Health’s COVID-19 response, Dr. David Durrheim, called for higher testing rates. This came into the spotlight following a decrease in the number of tests being carried out, while news cases were also found. Residents were urged to get tested even if they had mild symptoms, while the Muswellbrook drive-through COVID testing facility was extended too.

More upbeat news for the region came in the form of vineyard hotspot Pokolbin, being named amongst the most popular places that NSW residents were planning to enjoy holidays. This was reported on the 9News.com.au website on 4th October 2021; it highlighted that this wine town in Hunter Valley was at the time in first place on the top 10 trending list of the travel site, Wotif. Apart from being home to vineyards, Pokolbin is also an ideal place for a wellness retreat; NSW offers such rejuvenating getaways here at options like Elysia Wellness Retreat that feature personalised wellness programmes.
