The annual Hill Country Youth Age Group Chess Tournament & Festival was held on 24th & 25th January 2015 at NICD, Polgolla. The Grand Prix Youth Chess Championship involved 6 different individual events of tournaments (Under 8, 10 and 12 years, Boys and Girls). Each tournament was held according to the Swiss System with a maximum of 6 rounds. Each category had a maximum participation of 50 players competing.
The eligibility to participate in the tournament was based on each participant’s age meeting the requirement of being below the respective age group before 1st of January 2015. The first 8 places in each category qualified to play in the Grand Prix Championship 2015. The champion in each category was awarded with a gold medal and a certificate. Hotel Hill Top was a leading luxury Kandy hotel that provided accommodation for many a spectator who came to witness the championship held in Kandy.
