Hong Kong Hopes to Resume Cross-border Travel with China – A Possible Boost for Tourism

In what will be a much-needed boost for the local tourism industry, Hong Kong is hopeful that cross-border and quarantine-free travel with mainland China can resume. While this would be a positive move, experts have said such travel should only be permitted once both sides were fully prepared; this would include considering the pandemic situation of each destination and whether it has been brought under control.

Hong Kong has a “zero infections” policy in place when it comes to tackling COVID-19 and has implemented stringent protocols. Examples include the “Anti-Epidemic Hygiene Measures Certification Scheme” of the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency (HKQAA) under which properties including Park Hotel Hong Kong have been certified for their comprehensive hygiene and cleanliness standards; guests at such 4-star hotels in Hong Kong can look forward to safe stays which will be key once tourism restarts.
