Bangkok’s hospitality sector is moving beyond the classic Thai massage, with hotels developing programmes focused on mental wellbeing and medical-grade care. Many properties across the city now offer solutions such as sleep therapy, sound healing and longevity diagnostics alongside traditional spa treatments. A wellness hotel in Bangkok may combine psychologist-led workshops with hospital-style health assessments, reflecting a shift toward more proactive approaches to wellbeing. This is a trend that many hospitality groups, including Chatrium Hotels and Residences, are also observing closely as visitor expectations evolve.
Rising stress levels, jet lag among affluent travellers, and growing awareness of mental health as an ongoing practice are driving this transformation. In 2024, Thailand’s wellness economy reached $42.7 billion, while wellness tourism spending increased 36% that year, around three times the global average, reaching $14 billion. The country now ranks 15th worldwide for wellness tourism.
