The Huravee Day of the Maldives is celebrated as a tribute to Sultan Hassan for freeing the country from South Indian attackers in the 1750s and at present, it has been declared as an island-wide holiday in their calendars. Generally, every Maldives beach resort has some celebrations exclusive for this national holiday and they often comprise of music, dance, and great Maldivian delicacies.
The holiday was well spent by the Maldivian community in 2020 at resorts the likes of Hard Rock Hotel Maldives with their families and friends and for their entertainment, diverse programs had been arranged by the hotel teams. The tourists who were staying in this paradise island during this time were also educated about the importance of the day during these programs, and it was a nice sight to see them enjoying the celebrations too.
