India the Leading Source Market for Arrivals in Maldives – Tourism Industry Back on Track

The Maldives achieved over 300,000 tourist arrivals beginning from January this year to 2nd April 2021 which is a remarkable feat during this pandemic era. Of the total number of tourists, India was the leading source market with an impressive arrival rate of 23.4%. This trend follows in the footsteps of last year when it was the leading source market of 2020 as well after the Maldives reopened its borders.

Following India, Russia was the next significant contributor in terms of arrivals with 21.3% followed by Ukraine with 6%. Travellers from India and the rest of the world have been enjoying holidays here at tropical island resorts such as Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas; apart from the chance to stay at a private pool villa, Maldives adventures for both families and couples are on offer. No doubt, more Indian tourists will be expected in the coming months as the country looks to achieve 1.5 million total arrivals by the end of the year.
