India the Leading Tourism Source Market for the Maldives – Takes First Place from Russia

As per statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism in the Maldives in June this year, India has emerged as the leading source market for tourism. The country took over from Russia which had been holding the top spot from the beginning of 2023. As of 21st June, India’s market share when it came to arrivals was at 11.8%, marginally higher than Russia. Rounding off the top five source markets for the Maldives were the United Kingdom, Germany, and Italy respectively.

It should be noted that the country has also seen a steady influx of tourists this year with arrivals reaching 886,978 travellers by 21st June 2023.
