Indian Tourist Visits to be Encouraged by Promoting the Ramayana Trail Following Its Positioning as Sri Lankan’s Top Tourist Market

As India re-emerged as Sri Lanka’s top tourist market in the month of May, strategies have been laid to further attract travellers from the neighbouring country by promoting the Ramayana Trail to the Indians. The good news becomes a word of encouragement to a Colombo, Negombo or Kandy hotel in Sri Lanka awaiting the arrival of tourists despite the country’s economic situation.

As stated by the newly appointed brand ambassador for tourism, Sanath Jayasuriya, Sri Lanka is home to 52 sites on the Ramayana Trail and therefore, promoting such tours will become a reason for Indian tourists to flock to hotels like Earl’s Regency Kandy in no time. As posted on The Hindu on the 9th of August 2022, an official meeting had been called for with the High Commissioner of India in Colombo, H. E. Gopal Baglay to discuss particulars about this tourism strategy that could further strengthen the ties between the neighbouring countries.
