Indian Tourists Return to the Maldives – A Boost for Local & Global Tourism

Indian tourists have been returning for holidays to the Maldives once more which is good news not only for the local tourism industry but the global one as well. Indians made up one of the leading source markets in the Maldives this year in terms of tourist arrivals; this took a downward turn in May though, when the country suspended entry for travellers from South Asian nations including India due to the worsening pandemic situation in those destinations.

However, with the situation improving, such restrictions were lifted on 15th July 2021. This came as good news for Indian travellers who had the chance to stay at private island resorts as well as enjoy the many activities to do in Maldives from water sports to exciting excursions. Additionally, properties belonging to key hospitality brands such as Adaaran Resorts have implemented stringent health and safety protocols with comprehensive sanitisation measures too, for worry-free holidays.
