Setting sail toward sustainable, high-quality travel experiences

Indonesia is positioning its tourism sector for long-term growth with the launch of the Tourism Outlook 2025/2026, a strategic framework designed to guide policy and investment over the next decade. Developed collaboratively by Bappenas, Bank Indonesia, and the Ministry of Tourism, the report aims to prioritise sustainability, inclusivity, and high-quality visitor experiences.

The outlook encourages destinations to adopt eco-friendly practices, preserve cultural heritage, and elevate service standards. Emerging trends suggest travellers will increasingly seek meaningful experiences, from community-based initiatives to premium offerings such as luxury sailing in Indonesia, with operators like Vela representing this growing segment.

Following the Wonderful Indonesia Outlook 2025 event in Jakarta on 20 November, stakeholders are now set to implement the strategies outlined in the report. These measures are expected to strengthen Indonesia’s position as a globally competitive, environmentally conscious, and resilient tourism destination.
