Indonesia’s tourism industry has set its sights on a significant boost in visitor arrivals from China this year, aiming to welcome 1.5 million Chinese tourists; this was brought to light in a March 2024 report on The Jakarta Post news website. This ambitious target represents nearly double the number of travellers from China who visited the country in 2023. The key to achieving this goal lies in increased international flight connectivity, particularly with airlines operating direct routes to Indonesia from mainland China and the Macao Special Administrative Region.
The report highlighted the resumption of direct flights by 12 Chinese airlines, including China Southern Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, and China Eastern Airlines. These direct routes are expected to transport over 1 million visitors directly from China to various Indonesian destinations, including the capital, Jakarta. This cosmopolitan city remains a major draw for both business and leisure for visitors from across the globe. This includes those looking to stay at a Jakarta luxury apartment in the Central Business District; such ideal properties like Ascott Kuningan Jakarta are located within easy reach of sightseeing, shopping, entertainment and dining hotspots that continue to attract international travellers.
