Inter-Zone Travel Restrictions Eased in Sarawak

Signs of Cautious Optimism

As reported recently by the Borneo Post Online, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) decided to allow inter-zone travel without the need of police permits beginning 15th August 2020. This came after inter-zone travel was restricted from 01st to 14th August due to a spike in COVID-19 cases; this prohibited travel between Zone 1 (featuring the Samarahan, Serian and Kuching divisions) and Zone 2 (which encompassed divisions like Bintulu, Sarikei, Sri Aman and Kapit).

This easing up of the restrictions can be taken as a positive sign and it will be hoped that the trend continues including in Kuching, Sarawak’s capital. It is one of the key areas for tourism and travellers have several options when it comes to a place to stay in Kuching with properties like Citadines Uplands Kuching amongst the available choices.
