Even though only 7% of the Sri Lankan population is Christian, Christmas is one of the most celebrated events in the country. With gleeful smiles and enthusiasm scurrying across the island, preparations for this celebration are seen at least one month before the actual event. Christmas is not just about partying and decorating your house but is also a celebration of kindness, empathy and compassion towards one another. Some of the most popular things to do during this jubilant season include gorging on scrumptious Christmas cake, going on shopping sprees at several Christmas markets and experiencing the midnight mass.
