Japan waives COVID entry tests in a step toward welcoming tourists – the country gradually opens

Japan is one of the countries that remained closed for quite a while since the pandemic. Later on, the country opened with very strict rules for travel. Now, inbound travellers no longer have to take COVID-19 tests on arrival or self-quarantine at their accommodation. The quota for 10,000 international arrivals per day has also been increased to 20,000 since the 1^st of June this year.

Countries will be put into 3 categories according to the number of COVID-19 cases. Those travelling from countries assigned as “blue” will not require a PCR on arrival, nor will they need to quarantine. This is regardless of the vaccination status.
