Kala Pola 2016 – Celebrating Art in Sri Lanka

An event that showcased the very best of up and coming and established Sri Lankan artists, Kala Pola 2016 once again provided an ideal meeting point for artists and art lovers. Held on January 31st at Colombo 7’s, Ananda Coomaraswamy Mawatha, this annual event was organised jointly by the George Keyt Foundation and John Keells Holdings PLC. John Keells has had a long involvement with Kala Pola, while supporting and promoting local artists on its online digital art gallery, Sri Lankan Art Gallery. Resembling European style outdoor art fairs, Kala Pola featured a wide range of art pieces from paintings to sculptures and gave aspiring artists a chance to get their own unique brand of art out to the public as well. Open free to the general public, the event also featured a separate section for kids, where the Cora Art School held special art classes for children who visited the fair.
