Kandy Open Chess Festival – Rewarding Talented Champions

Attracting many chess enthusiasts from all over the country, the Kandy Open Chess Festival commenced on the 25th of August 2017. Presenting awards to the lucky category winners, the festival concluded on the 30th of August. Hosted by the 64 Squares International Chess Academy, the event was held at National Institute of Co-operative Development (NICD) in Polgolla, Kandy. Celebrating its eighth successful edition, the Kandy Chess Open Festival offered a grand prize of 700,000 rupees in cash. Held in collaboration with the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka, the event focuses on identifying talented chess players from all over the country.
