Khor Grama in Sur to Feature a Marine Tourism Project – Highlighting Oman’s Coastal Beauty

Khor Grama, northern Oman’s largest lagoon, is poised to become a hotspot for marine tourism. Located approximately 22 km east of Sur, this area is set to undergo development and will feature a marina and a variety of facilities catering to both locals and tourists.

In September this year, Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology concluded a bidding process for the design and supervision of this ambitious project. The chosen consultant will be responsible for creating a marina that will be able to accommodate 20 boats for excursions and 75 luxury yachts. The construction of an entertainment and water sports area, along with breakwaters, will further enhance the appeal of this coastal destination. Additionally, the project entails dredging a channel to improve accessibility and safety, as well as providing facilities to assist the local fishing community.

Meanwhile, tourists do not have to wait for the completion of the project to visit this part of the country. They can stay at Sur hotels in Oman and experience the rich heritage of a destination known for its traditional dhow manufacturing, old fishing village, and annual turtle nesting. Properties here like Sur Plaza Hotel even organise traditional dhow cruises along Sur Bay where guests can enjoy stunning coastal views, savour a delicious meal, and even try their hand at fishing.
