Koh Samui and Koh Tao See Surge in Tourists – Increase in Flights Also Recorded

Providing the tourism industry in Thailand a further boost, the islands of Koh Samui and Koh Tao have both witnessed a surge in arrivals this year. Located in the Surat Thani province, Koh Samui, in fact, reached pre-pandemic levels in terms of tourism in July considering the increase in arrivals and flights. In July alone, it welcomed more than 141,400 travellers via its airport, with officials calling for daily flights to be increased to cater to the growing demand. An ideal destination for tourists in search of a beach resort, Koh Samui offers plenty of fun in the sun, sand, and surf; beachside properties like Santiburi Koh Samui continue to attract tourists from around the world looking to experience relaxation, adventure, family time and romance.

Meanwhile, Koh Tao, another island in the Gulf of Thailand has also seen a steady increase in visitors in 2023. Amongst the notable statistics was that it recorded 3,106 tourists on 28th July this year which was a one-day record at the time. This coincided with the beginning of a six-day government holiday as well as the arrival of foreigners with designs to head to Koh Phangan from there to enjoy the famed Full Moon Party on 3rd August 2023.
