Kyoto Plans to Launch Express Sightseeing Buses – Transport to Key Attractions Made Easier

The historic city of Kyoto is set to enhance the visitor experience with plans to introduce express sightseeing buses. This exciting development comes amidst a surge in tourism and aims to provide a more convenient way for travellers to explore the many local treasures. Expected to launch in June 2024, these dedicated buses will depart from Kyoto Station; with fewer stops along the way, the express service will whisk visitors to popular sightseeing destinations like the iconic Kiyomizu Temple. This streamlined approach will also free up space on regular buses for local residents, ensuring a smoother commute for all.

Adult fares for the express service are planned to be set at a reasonable 500 yen (approximately $3) for adults and 250 yen for kids, making it an accessible option for budget-conscious travellers. While staying at Kyoto hotels and exploring the city, such visitors can also take advantage of the well-connected subway system. Those based at properties such as Park Hotel Kyoto are not only within walking distance of major attractions like Nijo Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site but the Karasuma-Oike Subway Station as well; this provides easy access to key places of interest like Kinkakuji Temple (known as the Golden Pavilion) and the Nishiki Market amongst other captivating attractions.
