The Malaysian government is targeting a RM 9 billion tourism by the year 2020, fuelled by the latest expansion at the Langkawi International Airport. Together with the luxury accommodation such as any Langkawi family resort the likes of Berjaya Langkawi Resort has quickly made this archipelago an agreeable destination.
Since the changes made to the airport, it can now handle 4 million passengers in comparison to the previous 1.5 million per annum. The expanded terminal was completed in August of 2018, strengthening Malaysia as a preferred global hub. It’s been observed that the Langkawi airport is gradually developing into a secondary hub in Malaysia as it has attracted the interest from foreign airlines.
