Laos to Upgrade Quality of Tourism to Meet Regional Standards – A Bold Move by the Government of Laos!

With the increased tourist footfall in Laos, The country is planning to upgrade the quality of the hospitality and tourism industry. The government spokesperson further stated that the country is planning to accomplish this feat by improving the standards of the staffs and other people those who are working in the industry of tourism and related areas.

All these plans were shared with the public by a delegation from Mass Media, Culture and Tourism Institute during a workshop that took place in Bangkok from May 31 to June 1, with a focus on developing the work plan for MRA-TP (Mutual Recognition Arrangement on Tourism Professionals)

The meeting also included discussions on setting goals and defining a vision and missions to achieve common goals with fellow ASEAN nations. Economists and business personnel in Laos believe that the government’s plans on upgrading the tourism standards will certainly encourage foreign investors and will increase the business opportunities for newly established resorts the likes of AVANI+ Luang Prabang; which is a hotel in Luang Prabang region that has been attracting tourists recently.
