Laos Welcomes Tourists with Eased COVID Restrictions

Following an over two-year-long travel restriction pertaining to COVID-19, the Southeast Asian land of Laos finally opened its doors to globetrotters, positive news for Luang Prabang hotels, as tourists come flocking into their much-awaited vacations in resorts like Avani+ Luang Prabang. On the 9th of May 2022, the country eased its restrictions following a statement made by Thipphakone Chanthavongsa, Head of the Agency for Controlling COVID-19 by the government.

Foreigners hoping to enter Laos are required to carry their vaccination certificates or virus tests. For travellers below the age of 12, a rapid antigen test taken 48 hours prior to the departure for Laos is required. Due to the opening of the country to tourists, entertainment points of the country are allowed to open, while abiding by the COVID-19 regulations imposed by the government.
