Lessons from Botswana’s progressive tourism policies

Botswana Sets Progressive Tourism Policies – Nation Named One of the Best Places to Travel
In October last year, during the Africa Tourism Leadership Forum (ATLF) held in Botswana, the country’s president, Dr. Mokgweetsi Masisi, provided insights into the nation’s progressive tourism policies. The forum took place at the Gaborone International Convention Centre near Avani Gaborone Resort & Casino and those who attended learnt how the government encouraged the active participation of the citizens too. Amongst the aspects highlighted were those that were part of the Botswana Tourism Policy of 2021; these included tourism product diversification, job creation, investment growth and citizen economic empowerment.

Such policies have made Botswana a key destination to visit for tourists which were highlighted in January this year when Forbes Advisor listed it amongst the “Best Places to Travel in 2023”. One of the aspects that were put in the spotlight was that it was a key destination for safaris and to spot wildlife too. Those planning a visit here and looking for the best hotel in Gaborone can choose a property within easy reach of the Gaborone Game Reserve where wildlife encounters abound.
