According to the Minister of Tourism and Christian Religious Affairs, John Amaratunga, Sri Lanka will finally be launching a long-awaited tourism promotion with an advertising campaign on CNN. The initial costing following the approval of the Sri Lankan Cabinet will be USD $ 650,000.
The tropical island, famous for its stunning beaches and many an Ayurveda hotel in Sri Lanka including the likes of Heritance Ayurveda Maha Gedara, has not conducted any large-scale tourism promotional campaigns for the past four years. The Managing Director, Mr Sutheash Balasubramanian of SLTPB stated, that the campaign will last for a period of three months.
The advertising campaign was an interim project which the government decided to launch due to a delay in a proposed digital marketing campaign. Mr Balasubramanian, however, stated that the digital marketing campaign is expected to commence in a period of one month’s time.
