Recently, Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi, the president of Zayed University, welcomed a delegation consisting of 47 students and professors from the Catholic Institute in Paris at the Abu Dhabi Campus. The Parisian delegation was headed by the Dean of the Faculty of Canon law, Ludovic Danto.
Both parties were actively engaged in discussions pertaining to research and dialogue on Christianity and Islam, in a bid to increase awareness of values such as tolerance and peace. The open forums denoted UAE’s commitment to ensuring the establishment of tolerance as a fundamental principle; it is important to note that the UAE attracts tourists of many nationalities with its first-class hotels and luxury villas in Abu Dhabi. Discussions on a Christian monastery, believed to be built in 600 A.D on Sir Bani Yas Island, took place as well. The 87 square km island is also home to Desert Islands Resort & Spa by Anantara which offers a private tour of the monastery for those interested.
