From 1st April 2022, Malaysia reopened its international borders to travellers giving the tourism industry a much-needed boost. The decision was in line with neighbouring nations like Singapore which had also reopened its borders. Fully vaccinated tourists can look forward to quarantine-free holidays here taking advantage of diverse hotel deals; Langkawi known for its coastal charm, beachside properties like Pelangi Beach Resort & Spa and adventure-filled activities are amongst the popular destinations that travellers can enjoy once more.
With the initial border reopening, fully vaccinated travellers had to submit to a COVID-19 antigen test on arrival; however, from 1st May 2022, this requirement was done away with as was the need for such tourists to have mandatory insurance coverage. Such moves are expected to encourage more travellers to visit in the months to come and help get tourism back on track.
