Maldives attracts 700,000 tourists so far in 2023

Showcasing the remarkable recovery of its tourism industry, the Maldives has continued to see an increase in arrivals this year. As of 6th June 2023, the country had welcomed 832,169 tourists as it nears one million, and this figure showcased a 14.7% growth when compared with the same period last year. At the time, the daily average of arrivals was 5,475, while the average stay duration stood at 7.8 days. The figures will no doubt keep increasing as more travellers come to enjoy tropical holidays at the best resorts in Maldives; these include private island properties in the North Male Atoll such as Grand Park Kodhipparu Maldives which offers safe and unforgettable stays for family fun and romantic retreats.

When considering the arrivals figure, as of 6th June this year, another significant revelation was that India had taken over as the number one source market for the country, replacing Russia which is now in second place. The UK, Germany, and Italy rounded off the top five source markets respectively, while China came in at number six, the first time it has entered the top 10 after three years. It marked a welcome return of Chinese tourists following China’s decision to begin outbound travel operations earlier this year.
