Maldives Independence Day Celebrations Dazzled the City of Male – A Cultural Phenomenon

The National Independence Day of Maldives was celebrated in the capital Male on the 26th of July 2017. This day marks the independence of the island from the British Empire and is celebrated with massive festivities every year. Visiting the country in July allows tourists to be part of the massive cultural celebrations. Accommodation can be sought in any of the Maldives island resorts, including the luxury brands such as Naladhu Private Island Maldives. The main festivities were held on the Republic Square in Male. the highlights included parades with the leadership of the National cadet corporations, cultural performances done by school children and several national festivals carried out by the National Security Services. The national festivals every year usually include the display of the glorious music of the ‘Bodu Beru; a traditional drum.
