Strengthening paradise for the future — Maldives commits to sustainable tourism excellence
The Maldives has officially launched its Tourism Trust Fund, a bold initiative aimed at advancing sustainable tourism while upholding quality across the industry. Managed by the Ministry of Tourism, the fund will support infrastructure projects, capacity building, and community-focused initiatives to future-proof the nation’s leading economic sector.
Funded through CSR contributions, sponsorships, investment income, and training-related fees, this new mechanism ensures consistent financial support for tourism development. Oversight is provided by a seven-member committee representing key government agencies, ensuring transparency and accountability.
In the first five years, the focus will be on upgrading facilities, workforce training, and enhancing visitor experiences, benefitting both tourists and locals. Initiatives like these are key to supporting modern properties such as dusitD2 Feydhoo Maldives, and further solidify the country’s reputation for offering world-class stays at some of the finest all inclusive resorts in Maldives.
