Two island nations, one shared vision for prosperity and stability.

Sri Lanka and the Maldives have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties during a state dinner marking 60 years of diplomatic relations. Presidents Anura Dissanayake and Mohamed Muizzu discussed opportunities to deepen cooperation across key sectors, including trade, defence, education, maritime security, and tourism.

President Dissanayake emphasised Sri Lanka’s dedication to working with the Maldives to ensure a peaceful and prosperous Indian Ocean region, with a strong focus on blue economy initiatives and regional stability. Muizzu highlighted the evolution of the countries’ partnership — from traditional trade in goods to collaboration in digital technology and sustainable tourism.

Tourism remains a vital link, with increased travel between the two nations. As leisure travel grows, especially among Sri Lankan and Maldivian holidaymakers, The Residence Maldives Dhigurah stands out among the best 5 star resorts in Maldives — offering a serene and elegant escape for those seeking a luxurious getaway.
