Maldives Remains Popular for Post-Pandemic Holidays – Arrival Figures Also on the Rise

Amongst the most sought-after destinations for post-pandemic getaways, the Maldives continues to draw tourists the world over. The country which achieved its goal of 1.6 million arrivals for 2022 has set its sights on recording 1.8 million travellers in 2023 as stated this month by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. The year has already gotten off to a great start with January recording 172,536 tourists arriving for holidays in Maldives, an increase of a little over 30% compared to January 2022.

At the time, the top five source markets were Russia, India, Italy, the UK and Germany respectively. Interestingly, following the easing of restrictions by China, Chinese tourists have also started visiting the country, which will undoubtedly lead to an increase in arrivals. Such travellers can enjoy safe accommodation at private island resorts like Kandolhu Maldives which continue to be a popular choice to experience the best of this tropical destination.
