Many island resorts and hotels in Maldives have been found to adjust their clocks by at least one hour ahead of the official time zone (GMT +5). According to this shift and for those following this adjusted time at the hotels, sunrise would be at 7 a.m. instead of 6 a.m.
While this deliberate change may seem strange to many, it is part of recent efforts to enhance the holiday experience of hotel guests and tourists. The adjustment allows guests to make the most of optimum daylight times for morning jogs and evening sporting activities while avoiding the peak heat times for the day. It also means that tourists can enjoy the spectacle of beautiful sunsets until 7.45 p.m. However not all island resorts have made the unique change, claiming that the standard time zone is more convenient for guests and hotel staff.
There are several top resorts in Maldives, many of them located on individual islands, like the Naladhu Private Island Maldives. The relaxation and idyllic seclusion offered by these resorts make Maldives a primary destination for travellers and tourists looking for a luxurious escape on their vacation.
