The Maldives is currently taking steps to improve its appeal as a year-round tourism destination by promoting all-inclusive diving and wellness experiences across many of its luxury resorts. The move comes as part of broader efforts to encourage visitor arrivals during the southwest monsoon season, which is often considered a shoulder season for international tourism.
At the heart of this new strategy is the wellness tourism segment, which has grown considerably in the international travel industry. Many of the top resorts like The Residence Maldives Dhigurah are now introducing comprehensive wellness packages in Maldives that promote mental wellness, physical healing and overall relaxation. Many of these packages are particularly curated for vacationing families and now offer spa therapies, yoga sessions, meditation and fitness programs, as well as health-based culinary experiences.
By associating these wellness-centred experiences with the monsoon, the Maldives is encouraging travellers to see the rainy season as a new opportunity for unique holiday experiences, rather than an inconvenient time of year for travel.
