Maldives Tourism Sees Upward Trend with Over 45,000 Tourist Arrivals in June

In the first twelve days of June, the Maldives has warmly greeted more than 45,000 tourists, according to the Ministry of Tourism. The latest statistics reveal a 0.7 per cent increase in visitor arrivals compared to the same period last year. Additionally, the overall tourist influx in 2023 has seen significant growth of 14.4 per cent, with a total of 854,409 visitors since the beginning of the year. India has reclaimed its position as the top tourist market, surpassing Russia, while the United Kingdom holds the third spot. The Maldives aims to further boost its tourism sector by implementing a comprehensive master plan and expanding tourism across its picturesque islands.

The Maldives experiences a promising surge in tourism as it welcomes over 45,000 visitors in June. Despite the challenging circumstances, the archipelago has recorded a slight increase in arrivals compared to the previous year. With a total of 854,409 tourists since the start of 2023, the Maldives has achieved a remarkable 14.4 per cent growth. India has emerged as the leading source market, followed closely by Russia and the United Kingdom.
