Tourist arrivals in the Maldives have reached an impressive 1.2 million so far this year, according to the Ministry of Tourism. In just the first three days of this month, 19,000 visitors arrived, marking a 21 percent increase compared to the same period last year. This growth highlights the rising popularity of the Maldives as a travel destination, with a 10 percent increase over the same period in 2023, when one million tourists visited.

China currently leads the list of source markets, with 164,000 tourist arrivals, followed by Russia with 128,000 and the United Kingdom with 106,000 visitors. As the numbers continue to climb, the Maldivian government aims to attract two million tourists by the end of the year to Maldives private resort brands such as the Coco Bodu Hithi.
