Maldives Tourist Arrivals See 10% Rise – Russia the Leading Source Market So Far

The tourism industry in Maldives has cause to be optimistic for a record-breaking year ahead as the country has already seen an increase in arrivals. By the 13th of January 2024, this Indian Ocean nation had recorded 76,979 arrivals which was a 10% increase when compared with figures from the same period in 2023. Considering the first 13 days of the year, tourists from Russia made up the leading source market followed by Italy, India, the United Kingdom, and Germany respectively. While the Maldives was able to meet its year-end target last year of welcoming 1.8 million tourists, it has set its sights even higher for 2024 as it plans to record 2 million arrivals.
