Maldives welcomes over 1.2 million visitors so far for 2023 – More expected by year-end!

By September, the famed archipelago of the Maldives had received over 1.2 million visitors upon its shores, with every month receiving over 100,000 foreign nationals to the country. As revealed through statistics provided by the local Ministry of Tourism, this figure shows a 13.9% increase from the last year over the same period.

The first half of the year was mostly dominated by Indian tourist arrivals but has since changed to Russian nationals, contributing 11.7% of the market share, closely followed by India and China in second and third place, respectively. The increases over the years can be attributed to the tourism master plan implemented by government officials, which has since led to far-reaching effects and implements, affecting the markets for a resort island in the Maldives like the well-known Embudu Village.
