Marathon sets the pace for Phuket tourism – Hopes for booming business and growth in the Thai arena

The Phuket Marathon has set the pace for the island’s tourism industry, as the event has attracted many domestic and international runners to participate. The marathon, hosted from 10-11th June, is set to welcome 8,000 participants from 40 countries and is one of Phuket’s longest-running sporting events, having run for over 17 years. Phuket resorts can expect business from those looking to combine hosting runners and a holiday in Phuket.

Seen as a key driver for the island’s tourism industry, as it not only attracts runners but also their families and friends who come to support them. In addition, the marathon has a strong focus on sustainability, with efforts to reduce plastic waste and promote eco-friendly practices. The overseers also take the opportunity to showcase Phuket’s natural beauty and luxury accommodations such as the Avani+ Mai Khao Phuket Suites & Villas.
