Marella Discovery in Sri Lanka – Maiden Call at the Port of Colombo

A super luxury cruise liner, the Marella Discovery recently docked at the Port of Colombo for the first time. The vessel which is part of Marella Cruises, a British cruise line, had a total of 1,732 passengers on board as well as 764 crew members. It features 902 rooms and spans an impressive length of 264 metres while its width measures 32 metres. The stopover in Colombo was part of a cruise journey that begun in Europe and encompassed destinations such as Italy, Crete, Egypt and Oman. After its stopover in Colombo the vessel headed for Sabang, Indonesia.

As part of the cruise experience, passengers aboard the Marella Discovery were taken on several captivating tours. This included a chance to discover the heritage of Colombo and explore the city of Galle where they could visit the famed Dutch Fort; this UNESCO World Heritage Site near Galle hotel properties the likes of Le Grand Galle by Asia Leisure is one of the island’s key tourist attractions.
