Marine dolphin sanctuary to be set up along coastlines – Protecting a wildlife treasure

The Ministry of Agriculture in Cambodia has decided to set up a marine dolphin sanctuary in order to preserve marine dolphins living off the coast. This proposed sanctuary will cover many provinces, and the setting up process will commence by the end of 2021.

Conservation specialists have already done the initial investigations in the area by visiting the islands. According to the report presented by them, each island has 30-50 marine dolphins. It is said that they appear during menstruation and right before they give birth. Offering a safe place for these marine treasures is a timely need, and the officials also have taken many steps already to prevent any human activities (fishing) that could increase the chances of harming them. If you explore the islands on a Mekong river cruise the likes of Mekong Kingdoms, you will realise how beautiful these islands are and how much biodiversity that they hold.
