Meeting new demand for travel – AirAsia Malaysia (AK) to Launch Flights Between Kuala Lumpur and Perth, Australia

AirAsia is set to enhance its operations between Malaysia and Australia, announcing plans for AirAsia Malaysia (AK) to commence flights to Perth in March 2024. This expansion complements AirAsia X’s (AAX) existing service on the same route, effectively doubling the weekly flights from seven to 14 across both carriers.

Starting from March 11, 2024, AirAsia Malaysia’s daily service (AK604) will depart Kuala Lumpur at 14:10, reaching Perth at 19:50. The return leg (AK605) is scheduled to leave Perth at 20:40, landing in Kuala Lumpur at 02:40.

Riad Asmat, CEO of AirAsia Malaysia, highlighted the deployment of new Airbus A321neo aircraft, extending the airline’s reach beyond the usual four-hour radius, and facilitating the expansion of services to Australia. The move reflects AirAsia’s commitment to meeting growing travel demands, particularly to popular destinations like Perth, known for its appeal to leisure, tourism, education, and family visits. This works both ways with tourists from Perth having easier access to flights coming into Malaysia as well as providing opportunities for any Desaru resort the likes of Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas to increase sales.
