Melbourne Named Most Sustainable City – Port of Melbourne Also Highlighted for Sustainability

According to Euromonitor International’s, Sustainable Travel Index for 2023, Melbourne is the world’s most sustainable city; this was put in the spotlight on the Time Out website on 23rd August 2023 which revealed that the comprehensive analysis featured the evaluation of 56 different factors with Victoria’s capital topping the final list. Amongst the sustainable highlights mentioned was that over 40% of its electricity comes from renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power. In more recent news, the Port of Melbourne also came out on top amongst international and Australian ports on the GRESB (Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark) Infrastructure Asset Assessment for 2023. This was highlighted on the Australasian Transport News (ATN) website on 23rd October 2023; it also mentioned that apart from a score of 99/100, the Port of Melbourne was given a five-star Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark rating which was a repeat achievement following last year’s rating.
