The 2024 edition of the MICHELIN Guide Thailand will feature two new destinations in the country, namely the island of Koh Samui and the Surat Thani mainland; this announcement was made in April this year and once the new guide comes out at the end of 2023, foodies can look forward to more culinary adventures in these two popular southern areas. When it comes to Thai restaurants, Koh Samui features its fair share of top choices including at resorts like Santiburi Koh Samui, while Surat Thani is also known for its varied dining delights.
According to the International Director of the MICHELIN Guides, Mr. Gwendal Poullennec, fresh local ingredients especially seafood contribute to the delectable cuisine found in these two destinations; he also highlighted aspects such as the eclectic food scene, enchanting ambience, and warm hospitality, while mentioning that some of the local dishes cannot be enjoyed anywhere else either. Apart from Koh Samui and the Surat Thani mainland, the upcoming MICHELIN Guide Thailand will also cover other areas of Southern Thailand like Phang-nga and Phuket along with Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Isan, and Ayutthaya.
