Mirissa Named Amongst Sri Lanka’s 10 Best Beaches – List Curated by Lonely Planet

The quintessential guide for global travel, Lonely Planet recently published online “The 10 best beaches in Sri Lanka”; the list, which was updated on 15th February 2022, featured key coastal areas on the island including Mirissa Beach. Hotels certified ‘Safe & Secure’ such as Lantern Boutique Hotel can be found here right on the shore offering guests a secluded beachside escape to enjoy the best this destination has to offer.

As mentioned by Lonely Planet, apart from enjoying the beach and moon-shaped bay, there are other captivating things to do in Mirissa too; these include spotting blue whales, surfing on the waves of the western reef break, snorkelling near Parrot Rock, visiting the Secret Beach and dining at local restaurants. Nearby Weligama Beach also made it on the list as did the other well-known beaches at Unawatuna, Dalawella, Kabalana, Arugam Bay and Nilaveli.
