Mobile subscribers decrease in Maldives – Bad news for mobile telecom companies!

According to recent reports, the number mobile network users have been continuously decreasing in the Maldives. It has been reported that the ­mobile base has declined to 871,421 subscribers, from 889,604 in the month of April. According to the statistical data from the Communications Authority of Maldives the mobile teledensity has also been declining during the recent times. Of the prevailing total number of mobile subscribers, it has been noted that 130,208 were postpaid subscribers, and 741,213 prepaid users. Years ago tourist who visited the Maldives had to get local SIM cards since most of the resort properties did not offer telephone facilities but today things have changed as each of the individual abodes at Maldives luxury resorts the likes of Adaaran Prestige Vadoo offer in-room telephone lines enabled with WiFi and broadband connectivity.
