More Cruise Ships Expected in Koh Samui in 2023 – A Vital Boost for Thai Tourism

Following Thailand reopening its borders, the country has seen an influx of visitors including those on cruise ships travelling to popular destinations like Koh Samui. As highlighted on the Pattaya Mail news website on 19th December 2022, the Mein Schiff 5 cruise liner arrived at the island last year with close to 2,500 travellers from Europe for a one-day visit. This was in fact, only the second cruise ship from Europe to arrive at Koh Samui following the pandemic.

The prospects for this year are even more positive as authorities in Surat Thani revealed that 31 cruise ships are expected; this will no doubt also help the country achieve its arrival target for 2023 which at 20 million travellers, is double the number set for 2022.
